The Value of the Credential

January 7, 2015  | By  |

Very few people desire credentials that have little or no value. Each credentialing organization faces unique challenges when defining the value of its credential and then being able to sell that value to the profession as well as to the public at large, usually including employers and businesses. Your organization must have a well thought out and adaptable business plan that recognizes the needs of the profession and what type of credential(s) will address those needs. Today’s certification may work well for today, but, given the rapid nature of technology advances and professional requirements, new or modified credentials (including advanced credentials), may be necessary for tomorrow.  In addition, cross boarder credentials are becoming more commonplace as more professionals are moving to all reaches of the world.  Creating national and even global standards within the profession will enhance the value of your organization’s credential thus, in the eyes of the profession and employers, separate your constituents from those who lack the credential or use a different credential.
