{"id":360,"date":"2016-03-23T12:33:30","date_gmt":"2016-03-23T12:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.proftesting.com\/blog\/?p=360"},"modified":"2016-11-15T22:28:08","modified_gmt":"2016-11-15T22:28:08","slug":"right-consultant-accreditation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.proftesting.com\/blog\/2016\/03\/23\/right-consultant-accreditation\/","title":{"rendered":"Finding the Right Consultant for Accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Certification bodies (CBs) seek third-party accreditation<a href=\"#_edn1\" name=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a> for various reasons, among them:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>evidence that the CB is meeting an independent third-party standard;<\/li>\n<li>greater accountability for the users of the certification and proof of \u201cdoing things right;\u201d and<\/li>\n<li>gaining a competitive edge in a market-space where there is more than one certification.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason, achieving accreditation is a significant accomplishment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Before a CB even considers applying for accreditation, it needs to take a long, hard look at its current practices.\u00a0 The CB will want to meet the intent of the standard without compromising its business model and unique features.\u00a0 The ideal consulting partner will help the CB make all necessary changes without unnecessary compromises.\u00a0 That takes deep knowledge of the accreditation standard, broad experience with a range of certification scenarios, and a commitment to work closely with the CB.<\/p>\n<p>With our own long track-record of providing top-notch consultation in personnel certification accreditation, we suggest CBs work with consultants who provide:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Extensive knowledge across all areas of the accreditation standard\u2014organizational structure; program governance and policy development; scheme alignment\u2014eligibility, recertification and code of ethics; psychometric rigor in examination development and maintenance; secure and standardized examination administrations; psychometricians with breadth of experience across examination types (m\/c, performance, portfolio), large and small \u201cn\u2019s\u201d;\u00a0 security and confidentiality requirements; personnel and contracted services; SME qualifications and selection; program management and procedures; complaints and disciplinary procedures; appeals and due process; management systems and internal audits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting documentation such as reports on performance of the exam; comprehensive policy manual; documentation of SME selection and qualifications; scheme requirements; handbooks and applications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>An assessment of the CBs practices relative to risks such as conflict-of-interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>An analysis of the CBs ability to meet each requirement, citing areas of non-compliance and recommendations to achieve compliance, with an estimate of the necessary resources and time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Application preparation for accreditation\u2014ability to meet the intent of the requirements. with an understanding of the business model.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assurances of successful outcomes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It is also important to know the qualifications of consultants directly related to the implementation of the accreditation standards.
